Daorae @ Kota Damansara, available @ Penang too

Goodie is not only a western cuisine lover but loves korean food as much as foodie loves hawker foods. On foodie's b'day, we went to Daorae at damansara which we were lucky enough to get a table for 5 as we did not make any reservation prior the b'day. Daorae has its branches in different places in KL and Penang. So far, foodie and goodie had been to daorae branch in kota damansara and bayan point, penang.

Daorae Korean Bbq

Upon seated and placing your orders, Ban-Chan which is small dishes of korean snacks will be served before the main course reached your table. One good thing with this ban-chan is it is refillable upon request and each refill is free of charge. If I'm not mistaken there will be around 12 small dishes readily served and the most popular and delicious of all wont definitely be the kimchi. The kimchi taste was really genuine that you will definitely feel that you are in Korea.

The ban-chan

We ordered the fried tong fun which I couldn't remember what was the exact name in the menu. Korean tung fun did taste different from the one I usually have at hime. Fried with seafood, capsicum and meats, this plate of tong fun would definitely made you ask for more and be in love with tong fun. Price ranging between RM25-RM32.

The tong fun which is really appetizing

The first time foodie and I went there, we did not know that each and every single table will be given complimentary korean pancake from the chef. Hence, the first time we visited, we actually ordered a large pancake which was really yummy. The pancake was really thin. It was fried along with some eggs, seafood and small slices of garlic, onion, capsicums. Since it is a complimentary dish, I suggest that you try it first before you order.

We also had bbq beef, beef ribs and pork in doarae. A plus point of having bbq food in daorae was that since every table is equipped with cooker hood which will suck up most of the smoke resulted from bbq. We had Wan Gal Bi which is more commonly known as beef rib, marinated perfectly in the korean sweet soy sauce. It was nicely grilled on the bbq pan and to our delighted, we did not have to do the bbq ourselves as those friendly waiters will do it all for us, from the beginning to the end. The bbq beef rib was to be wrapped with lettuce, dipped in some specially made sauce together with some garlic. The taste was really amazing. Price ranging RM55-RM70.

Bbq Pork

We also had bbq pork which is slightly cheaper compared to the beef. The pork is marinated with some ginseng and koraen sauce and the meat was really tender after being barbecued. It was one of foodie's favorite food that night. Price ranging RM30-RM40. Other than bbq stuffs, we also had ginseng chicken which is RM100++ for 4 person. We also had kimchi steamboat which is Goodie's most favorite, pricing around RM70++, the portion was more than enough to serve 5 people.

The kimchi steamboat was really appetizing and it was advisable to skip this if you have ordered a lot of other side dishes.

Hard Rock Cafe @ Penang

Goodie is bringing you to hard rock, penang today. I was at hard rock, penang during my mid sem break from the daytime to the night. Knowing that my cousin managed to reserve a table for us at hard rock cafe really thrilled me as it was/is really difficult to make reservation at that particular hotel. If one is interested to dine there, it is advisable to make your reservation 2 weeks prior the date.

I reached hard rock hotel at around 2pm, roamed around the hotel admiring the garnish design which the designer definitely had a cult on music. Most of the apus can be dated back to the 1900's. My cousins and I decided to have some food for tea since it was still early and my booking was at 8pm.

We had pizza at one of the cafe in hard rock hotel which was facing the pool and the beach. The atmosphere was definitely relaxing enough to spend your afternoon/evening there. You can hear kids playing around the pool or even have a sunbath session while enjoying your food at the extensional chair provided. The pizza was really tasty and delicious. The bread was thin enough and the chef definitely topped the pizza with a lot of cheese which melt and stick to the crusty bread when being baked in the pizza oven. The price was at around RM25-Rm32.

At around 7.30pm, we were informed that we had a table ready for us in hard rock cafe. There was a really long queue outside the cafe and people were trying their lucks there to see they were lucky enough to get a table for themselves and hoping that there will be some cancellation of reservation. Upon entering, you can see a huge "hard rock" wordings changing colors constantly as the light change. It was rather dark inside with disco lightings.

I had mango berry mocktail for that night. The mocktail tasted rather sour and sweet at the same time. The taste was a mere so-so I would so. It was around RM15-RM20 per glass.

A glass of carlsberg at hardrock which cost around RM20-RM25 per glass.

For starter, we had this large portion of hard rock starter which the portion was large enough to serve 4 people. The starter set contains buffalo wings, springrolls, fried potatoes, salad and grilled meats. The sauce which served along with the started set was yummylicious. Other than that, the starter was served with thousand island and yogurt dressings as well.

We tried the duo combo set too which was actually a combination of beef steak and grilled oxtailed, served with mashed potato and lots of fries. The beef was really tender and juicy and as for the oxtail, it was really beyond marvellous. The portion was as usual too big for one person. Pricing was around RM38-RM45.

I had grilled salmon steak with butter sauce, serve with brocollis and mashed potatoes. The butter sauce itself made the whole plate of course meal fattening. Compared to other two entrees, this plate of salmon steak just did not do wonders. Price ranging RM30-RM38.

My cousin had new york steak which was the most expensive of all. Price ranging RM40-RM60. However putting aside the price, this plate of steak did really taste good. My cousin had it well done while I personally preferred medium cooked so that I can savor the freshness and it would be juicier.

Signing off, Goodie.

Paddington Pancake House @ Midvalley

On a very emo day of foodie, foodie wanted to eat something sweet. Hence, Paddington Pancake House at Midvalley. It is located at lower ground floor, on the left side walking to The Gardens from midvalley. Located beside Tony Roma as well.

Treasure Box RM17. This pancake come with mixed fruits and a scoop of vanilla ice cream (choose your own flavour). The pancake is not very big. Perfect for snack.

Oven Baked Pancake. RM 18.50.
This oven baked pancake is very very big, portion of 2-3 i would say. It is freshly baked upon order, thus a waiting time of 20 minutes is unavoidable. I prefer treasure box than this though.

Banana Leaf Rice @ Kanna Curry House Puchong

Banana Leaf Rice has been my all time favourite simply because it can be refilled. I always opt for banana leaf rice when i am starving, just after a marathon or hike. I have been to few restaurant to try out their banana leaf rice. This is one of my favourite: Kanna Curry House.

Looking for a parking is not a problem at all.

Banana Leaf Rice!

The rice with dahl. sometime if i find it too spicy (Foodie don fancy spicy food), i will order tairu (yoghurt) to add with the rice and dahl. The taste is unique and foodie likes it =) My friend said it taste awesome with curry, but foodie likes dahl only.

My friend told me that they served very nice sambal prawn. Hence, we ordered one plate to try it out. Don get deceived by this small plate of sambal prawn. This sambal prawn is RM10 per plate. But they do give a generous amount of shrimps. Of the price of RM10 and you get around 10 big fat shrimp is kinda worth it.

Next up is my favourite fried fish. I always like the combination of banana leaf rice with dahl, ikan tinggiri and papadum together. Fried fish is my must have when come to every banana leaf rice restaurant in KL.

Freid chicken here is nice as well. But I didn’t take the picture as it went into someone stomach right after it was served.

And they serve different vege everyday.

Papadum, a must have for banana leaf rice!Pricing: Banana Leaf rice for two with fried fish, sambal prawn and fried chicken ~RM35
